Updates...

hey guys n girls...sorry for not posting in here XD...i jux create a blog that's y i now can start to post...basically i'm going to post some answers about our recent homework...so that most of us can do our work XD...

We in Malaysia had a passing of a legend, Yasmin Ahmad.

She was a director and a storyteller who embodied the meaning of 1Malaysia. Although I did not have the pleasure of knowing her personally, many people in the industry would tell me about her beautiful stories. Her work has truly been inspirational and I’m not just jumping on the bandwagon to say something like this.

I’m sure people in Malaysia find it easy to be complacent and just adjust to the culture here; race issues, religious issues and even social stratification. For me, it has really been such a culture shock in so many ways. It really hit me when I was on the way back from the Most Wanted Ruummate FINALE (congrats to Rachel Beh and Derek Yap btw) in the car with Lu Jing Shia, discussing how Western cultures differ from Eastern cultures. I’ve been trying to reap the benefits of growing up in Canada while coming home to Malaysia but there are definitely struggles. I’m sure I can easily list the imperfections of living in this country, but that’s not the point. Its not about complaining about what is good or what is bad, instead, we could create solutions and bring ideas to light despite waiting for the bureaucratic system to change for us.

I think Yasmin Ahmad’s passing should not go in vain, as long as we remember what her work stood for and how much she was willing to lend her voice to the power of harmony and unity in Malaysia. Although it may seem as though our lives are not directly touched by her, but I truly hope that we will soon be affected by the stories she has laid before us. What made her stand out was her ability to use commercials and film as an advantage to remind us how we are all the same people, regardless of ethnicity or religion.

Her message was beautiful and her ability to string up what is profoundly and culturally Malaysian on many emotional levels were so rich its a shame that we needed the international community with acclaimed festivals to remind us what a gem we already had. Support the local industry, support the stories that remind us on what it means to be Malaysian.

I’m sure you all have heard the huge project that is about to ensue: 15Malaysia. I’m so honoured to be part of one of the short films and can’t wait for the other films to be readily available to the rest of the public. Yasmin Ahmad was only ONE of the many talented directors that we have in this country - let’s not take too long in realizing what gems we already have. ;)

Rest in Peace
Yasmin (1958-2009)

if i'm not mistaken muet must do some research right...here's 1 for u guys...enjoy =)

English - OPSHACOM

Have you ever wonder on how to express few adjectives to describe a person, thing and an object?

For example,

-A lovely, young, British girl.

The adjectives are lovely, young and British.

However, some people will make mistake(s) when they describe a noun with two or more adjectives.

Such as,

-A red, big, poisonous mushroom. (wrong)

But,

-A poisonous(opinion), big(shape), red(colour) mushroom. (correct)

So, a rule that 'called' OPSHACOM which helps people to describe the noun systematically.

OP - Opinion ( cute, lovely, excellent )

SH - Shape ( small, round, tall )

A - Age ( new, young, ancient )

C - Colour ( red, pink, blue )

O - Origin ( Malaysian, Chinese, British )

M - Material ( steel, plastic, woody )

Hence, by using this rule we can use many adjectives to describe a noun.

Hai, everybuddy and Encik Yassir

Well, this is my first post. This is my first time blogging in Blog Interaktif PPU LS1@SMK Cochrane. As I read this blog (Blog Interaktif PPU LS1@SMK Cochrane). I found that blogging is intresting and also blogger needs to be creative (makes people enjoy to read). Ahh, I also hope that students from LS1 will participate in blogging too.

Farewell

In a rush of time, I don't have the chance to say goodbye to everyone. The only word that I can say is: Thank you.

I cut from part of my newest blog post and paste it here:

Thank you:

{Gals}
Lai Yen, you are a pretty girl. You are very easy to get along with.
Wen Hui, you are a popular one, and I'm jealous of your popularity.
Elyn, you are very friendly. I'm touched by your blog post. Sit with Pow Yee. You are not alone. (hey, pretty good driver.)
Yuen Yee, you are a very good partner. Responsible while doing experiments.
Pow Yee, hope you can get along well with the classmates.

{Guys}
Weng Kuent, find a new master. But still I can teach you Japanese online, if you want.
Hon Sim, get steady relationship with Mrs Yap. Glad to be your group member.
Yen Chin, I support your resignment. Thanks for guiding me when I first became prefect.
Jen Hou, you've changed a lot. You can become a good class monitor. And I still can't believe that I saw that scene...is that your first kiss?
Adrian, you gave me a deep first impression. Especially that day when you taught us some 'advices' like 'Cochraneans' Survival Guide'.
Chun Ken, it's really fast that we actually become good friends in this short period. I know you care about me very much. Good luck studying in college. Enjoy your college life.

{Teachers}
En. Yassir: I'm very lucky and proud to have a kind and responsible teacher like you. You are the first teacher of mine who accepts computerised homeworks. I love your lessons, and your way of teaching.
Pn. Khoo: you look serious at first, but actually a friendly one.
Pn. Goh: I love your signature smile. You are the best english teacher ever.
Pn. Ng: you have the same surname as my mom. My mom is a Maths teacher too and students also call her Pn Ng...haha
Pn. Maziah: be patient with the talkative boys in LS1...
Pn. Tan: you must be very busy dealing with students' affair. You taught us many important maths concepts.
Pn. EMary: I didn't have the bravery to introduce myself to you. I love your lecturing, but other students may think you speak too fast...
Mr. Ong: I'd like to borrow the chemistry courseware discs.....

From tomorrow, the 'chemistry representative' post will be vacant. Anyone?

Anyway, I'll still post chemistry study materials in the future.

Chemistry: How were atomic masses measured before mass spectrometry?

How were atomic masses measured before mass spectrometry?

Before the mass spectrometer was invented, how did the earlier scientists determine the mass of an atom (what kind of experiment was performed) ? I realize they were able to find relative mass but I was hoping you would know how they determined actual mass.

Here's a dollar bill. Tell me how thick it is, and you can keep it.
It's too thin to measure with these crummy rulers you've given us, but it's about 0.1 mm.

Close, but not quite. Yes?
It's about 0.045 mm thick.

How did you come up with that?
I rolled it up as tight as I could, counting the number of turns, and then measured the diameter of the roll. I divided that by the number of bill-thicknesses in the roll.

That works. Now here's a five dollar bill. Tell me how to find the mass of a copper atom and you can keep it.
Weigh an atom with a very good scale.

We don't have a scale that good. Our scales won't read masses that are much less than a milligram.
Count out a million copper atoms, weigh them, and divide the weight by a million.

OK. But that would be like like measuring the thickness of a dollar bill with a crummy ruler, because a million atoms is still too light to register on an analytical balance.
All right, a million million.

How are you going to count them out? Are you sure that's going to be enough to give you more than, say, a milligram of material?
Avogadro's number of atoms, then.

How do you put Avogadro's number of atoms on a balance pan?
Put a mole of copper on the pan.

How do you do that?
A mole of copper weighs 63.54 g.

An atom of copper weighs 63.54 g divided by Avogadro's number. 63.54 divided by 6.02×1023 is 1.06×10-22 g per copper atom.

But suppose you didn't know the atomic weight, or Avogadro's number-
Now you're asking two related but different questions: How to find an atomic weight, and how to find Avogadro's number. Those will cost you extra. Pay up for the copper atom first.

You've learned well, grasshopper.

Chemistry: Interesting educational videos

Here I found a useful website for students who learn chemistry:

This site introduces viewers to all(or many?) elements in the periodic table with tons of videos, each video for each element. It's a good way to get familiar to your periodic table, now you can watch instead of read to learn them.

The Periodic Table of Videos

In extra, the site below is another creation from University of Nottingham: Sixty Symbols--introducing the symbols used in physics, with videos, too. It's quite interesting and watching it is definitely worth the time.

P/S: All these above are Youtube videos.

Today all the lower six classes are going to present during the talent time.
Almost all the classes are going to sing song…
Ours class LS1 also follow the train of singing…
We didn’t even get any preparation for this talent time.
Until yesterday we also not yet decide what song we want sing…
Yesterday, Jen Hou our assistant monitor was still kidding to us…
Today when we get in the class, Jen Hou let us know we are going to sing the song of “high school musical” forgot what name of the song already…
The talent time will start at 1.50pm.
The whole morning we are busy with our study…
We don’t have time to practice…
Until PA period, En Yassir let us practice…
Just left about 50 minutes…
How??? We girls almost don’t know how to sing…
Just Yuen Yee knows how to sing…
We listen to the music and look at the paper and learn how to sing lo…
We don’t have rehearsal…
We didn’t sing together once…
Oh…the clock shows 1.50pm…
Talent time start…
We LS1 are the first class…
Where should stand??? Don’t know???
Just go up the stage…
Oh…we can do it…
We finish singing…
Especially Yen Chin, Jen Hou and boys who sing loud and clear…
Yuen Yee also sings very well…
Although we didn’t perform well
But we brought laughter for everyone…
Just half an hour of learning,
We already can sing so “well”
This show how best we are…
Haha…sedikit perasan…

Chemistry: Redox Reaction

What is Redox Reactions?
Reactions involving change of an oxidation number/transfer of electron.
When there’s Oxidation, there’s Reduction.

Fun Fact:
"Oxidation" comes from Oxygen = powerful acceptor (electron stealer!), oxidizing just about everything it contact with.

Remember, “oxidation” is a powerful ‘electron stealer’-----thus, an oxidised substance lost its electrons.

The atom which gains electrons reduces its oxidation number.
The atom which loses electrons increases its oxidation number.

Halo..

Hihi..Hav a gud day??^^
