What is Redox Reactions?
Reactions involving change of an oxidation number/transfer of electron. When there’s Oxidation, there’s Reduction.
Fun Fact:
"Oxidation" comes from Oxygen = powerful acceptor (electron stealer!), oxidizing just about everything it contact with.
Remember, “oxidation” is a powerful ‘electron stealer’-----thus, an oxidised substance lost its electrons.
The atom which gains electrons reduces its oxidation number.
The atom which loses electrons increases its oxidation number.
